Our Capital Campaign

A capital campaign is an organized drive to collect and accumulate substantial funds to finance the major needs of an organization.

These major needs usually include new building projects and major renovations or repairs.

The ten-year Master Plan adopted by our congregation last year is ambitious; it proposes several creative ways to expand and
optimally use our existing campus and it will capably meet the many needs of the generations of UUs who will follow us.

In order to build Phase 1 of this ambitious and far reaching master plan, First Unitarian will conduct a Capital Campaign.
George Bakula and Gwen Sawyer are the co-chairs of the campaign. They organized and managed our recent 2011 Stewardship Campaign
where we raised more than ever before in operating funds (almost $560,000). They will organize and oversee the capital campaign this fall,
combining it with our annual stewardship campaign in order to maximize the effectiveness of committee’s efforts.

Once we vote to move ahead, the campaign will begin in September with the pledge-fulfillment period extending over the next three years
(2012, 2013, and 2014). That wide latitude is provided so that congregants can optimize the tax benefits or other possible benefits of their
giving (see Pledge Options form below).

This page will grow quickly over the next few months. Bookmark it now! We expect your fellow First U members to get really creative
in how to meet their individual pledges for the campaign and we hope to share their stories with you.

So, come again, and be inspired!
