ADULT LEARNING
We, the members of the First Unitarian,
agree to . . .
provide a dynamic religious education
program for all ages
Adult Education at First Unitarian
Our adult education classes and programs promote knowledge and provide opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of the spiritual and ethical life.
The Adult Religious Education Committee thanks all the First U members and
friends who have led (or helped lead) a class, workshop, or discussion group
geared toward adults this church year, including:
David Barbour, Jack Burch, Dave Colton, Asia Esposito, Roger Hartz, Nancy
Kilpatrick, Dawn Lunt, Rieka Long, John McGuffin, Liz McMaster, Carolyn McSherry,
Dianne Moody, Roy Moody, Kristine Olson, Mikaela Renz-Whitmore, Bob Riley,
Kristin Satterlee, Sandra Schroeder, and others!
Are YOU interested in teaching or leading? We can help you with ideas,
publicity, and connecting with resources within the church and larger
denomination. Contact chair Roy Moody at speaker@roymoody.com.
And finally, AN EXTRA BIG THANKS to John McGuffin for chairing Adult RE for the
last two years. John helped form the Adult RE committee, is the leader of our
Wednesday brown-bag lunch series, and has volunteered in the church library and
other projects. Thank you, John!

HUUmanist Group
Explores non-theistic approaches to meaning, ethics and spirituality. Our
goal is to enhance, promote, practice and enjoy humanism in a liberal
religious setting. We will discuss current topics of interest using books,
articles or short readings. The HUUmanist Group meetings are open to
everyone. Please feel you are invited! Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month
in the Social Hall from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Contact: Roy Ellis Moody

Find Your Meditation Practice
Tuesday evenings, May 22 and 29, 7-9pm, Arnold Room, Christine Robinson
A spiritual practice is good for body (lower stress!) mind (think more
clearly!) and soul (find serenity!). There are many more options for
quieting the restless mind and deepening our lives than sitting cross-legged
with closed eyes, so if that doesn’t work for you, don’t despair! Christine
will lead the class through a variety of spiritual practices such as
walking, reading, journaling, caregiving, twittering, as well as how to sit
in silence. There is a $5.00 materials charge for these two sessions, and
advance sign-up (by calling or emailing the office) by May 15
is required.
