Board of Directors
Board members manage the church's affairs. Members are elected. More Board of Directors info.

Executive Committee
The church's Executive Committee is made up of the board of directors' officers and the ministers; it sets the agenda for monthly board meetings.


Standing Committees
Standing committees do the church's core work.

Buildings and Grounds Committee
Coordinates the use and upkeep of church facilities. Reviews building and grounds maintenance. Establishes an annual capital budget and spends money as authorized.

Endowment Committee
Uses income from this fund to support various church programs. Oversees the development of the endowment fund and meets no less often than quarterly. Members are elected by the congregation and appointed by the board of directors. More Endowment Committee info.

Finance Committee
Discusses, plans, and implements the church's financial workings.

Healthy Community Team
Nurtures development of skills and processes, including managing conflict resolution and consulting on needed programs and education, to help make the church a healthy community. Healthy Community Team

Leadership Succession Committee
Consults with leadership regarding candidates for leadership positions; makes recommendations to the board for board-appointed seats; helps the Program Team identify members who would benefit from leadership development; nominates candidates for elected positions at congregational meetings. Membership Committee
Welcomes visitors, initiates or assists with programs to increase membership, helps new members become involved, and encourages inactive members. Staffs the membership information table and hosts new member dinners with the ministers.

Personnel Committee
Helps the Associate Minister develop and monitor policies and procedures as they pertain to all hired personnel. Makes recommendations to the Finance Council, Board of Trustees, or ministers. Members are appointed.

Program Team
Committee chairs and council representatives coordinate church programs and activities. Observers are welcome.

Stewardship Committee
Prepares and conducts the annual church fund drive.


Program Committees
Program committees enrich the lives of our constituents and community. All these committees are open to new members or visitors.

Arts & Aesthetics Committee
Arranges for displays of art in the sanctuary gallery. Staffs sales tables and influences decisions for the church's interior decoration. More Arts & Aesthetics Committee info.

Common Ground Committee
Prepares and presents the informal worship service on Sundays, held as an alternative to second service, using a video of the first-service sermon.

Denominational Affairs Committee
Maintains contact with the Mountain Desert District and the Unitarian Universalist Association and provides information to the congregation on these groups. More Denominational Affairs Committee info.

Earth Web Committee
Committed to caring for the Earth; studies and acts in this endeavor. More Earth Web Committee info.

iMinistry Team
Develops digital evangelism to enhance the church's publicity and get information out to our local community.

Intern Committee
Supports, advises, gives feedback, and participates in the evaluation process of our ministerial intern.

Library Committee
Maintains book lending library and bookstore, providing membership with books and other publications of wide interest with an emphasis on religion. More Library Committee info.

Music Committee
Enhances the congregation's religious music experience by long-range planning, preparing budgets, getting new members involved, and being advocates for the music program.

Religious Education Committee
Works with RE staff to design and implement relevant programs. Volunteers teach, supervise the playground, work in the office, and do just about anything that will enrich the religious development of our youth.

Shared Use Committee
Jointly manages the common space between La Puerta and the church. Works with both boards of directors to resolve disputes and promote cooperation. There are three members each from La Puerta and the church; staff members do not serve.

Social Justice Council
Promotes awareness of community, political, and social issues, and encourages involvement in related activities. More Social Justice Council info.

Worship Committee
Assists the ministers in preparing and presenting Sunday services and conducts services when none of the ministers are in the pulpit. Strives for worship services that are meaningful and enriching.
